Brothers Roofing recently completed a full roofing replacement on a home in Allentown, NJ. We were one of several companies bidding the job, and as you can imagine, the customer received numerous prices from local roofing companies yet the majority did not address ventilation issues that the home had due to its age. Brothers Roofing ultimately received the job as we had properly educated the customer as to what the home needed to have a properly installed and venting roof that will serve properly for many years to come.
In a previously written article, we outlined the advantages of a full roofing replacement versus installing a second layer of shingles. After the pricing and education materials were submitted to the homeowner for this job, ...

Gutter repairs are often improperly performed as they seem like a simple task that can be performed by a handyman. A handyman does not have the gutter related expertise to properly repair your gutters so that they divert water properly away from the home. Another asset we posses is the ability to make custom seamless gutters on site to properly suit your home. Custom lengths can be installed as a part of your gutter repair services which will eliminate seams and the risk of premature leaks that "off the shelf" gutters will cause.

Vent pipes are installed throughout your home to allow gasses and heat to escape through your roof. Like other exterior portions of your home, the vent pipes – specifically the boots and collars placed on the vent pipes, are exposed to extreme temperature and weather changes. Over the years, as the life expectancy of the boot or collar declines and the unit itself wears out, the homeowner is bound to experience leaks into the attic and even into the interior of the home if enough water has pooled inside of your attic. It is best to have your roof inspected in the early fall, as late fall, winter, and spring often bring heavy amounts of precipitation in our central NJ region.

The central New Jersey area is flooded with roofers. Hamilton, Lawrenceville, Ewing, Trenton, Princeton, as well other areas throughout Mercer County contain dozens of roofing companies. Some companies have built up reputations throughout many years of service while some are just fly by companies that are here one day and gone the next. Many of our clients often ask us "Why are you adamant on a full roof replacement when "reputable roofer" company or "unknown roofer" company gave us a quote to re-roof over our existing shingles and it is considerably less than your quote of a full roof replacement." The quote you received is actually cheaper initially, but down the road, the advice "reputable roofer" company or "unknown roofer" company ...

The NRCA (National Roofing Contractors Association) recommends for semi annual roofing inspection to be completed. The recommended time frames are in the fall and late spring. Many homeowners do not follow this advice for numerous reasons - carelessness, lack of knowledge of potential risks, or the unwillingness to hire a professional that will perform the proper inspection and tuneup process.

Brothers Roofing recently completed another roofing repair and seamless gutter project in Ewing, NJ. The homeowner called and requested numerous repairs to his aging slate roof as well installation of new seamless gutters. Various precautions were taken during the roof repair as the slate roof itself was rather brittle - it was aged and was due for replacement. We must say that given the age of the roof, the slate shingles had retained their colors very well. Before we could tackle the seamless gutters, we found that numerous areas of fascia needed to be replaced as they had been compromised. We replaced the rotten wood with synthetic boards and the proceeded to wrap them with aluminum. Synthetic boards are a fantastic substitute for wood...

The summer has gone by very quickly and Brothers Roofing was very busy performing numerous roofing repairs and roof installations throughout the Central New Jersey regions. The cities of Hamilton, Lawrenceville, Trenton, Princeton, Ewing, West Windsor as well as others in Mercer County were common grounds for much of our work. We took on both residential and commercial customers.
One recent job that stands out is an emergency repair that we performed at a local (privately owned) paint store here in Hamilton Township, NJ. The owner contacted us and informed us that he had a fairly large amount of water coming into the store and needed repairs ASAP before more damage would occur inside.
Upon further examination we found:

As summer approaches here in the state of New Jersey, it is important to discuss the impact severe weather may have on your existing roof with primary focus on hail and the damage it can cause . Your roof is the home's first line of defense against the elements - it battles ever changing temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and hail year round. When the weather changes and hail suddenly strikes during the summer months, your roof may suffer instant hail damage . This is especially the case for older roofs that have not been replaced or may have needed replacement in the future. If your roof has sustained damage, it may be necessary to perform roof repairs or even a roof replacement - depending on the severity of the damage.
